“Can you recommend some place to go to with a child???”. A child-friendly hotel. Pool. Playroom. Some place where you could walk, with things to do so that kids don’t get bored. It would be perfect if it was by the sea. You don’t even know how many questions like these we get! Especially now, when vacation is about to start. Sometimes you ask about child-friendly hotels by Polish sea, sometimes you ask about hotels somewhere in Europe – on Krete, on Malta, on the Canary Islands. I wish I knew about such places everywhere in the world, but the truth is, we don’t always look for child-friendly places. I think it’s because we’ve been traveling with Maks forever, so we learned how to take him everywhere and entertain him. Sometimes we do feel like going to a small paradise for children, though. The kind of paradise where the kid is constantly happy, doesn’t complain and where the parents come back, relaxed more than ever, because they don’t have to come up with millions of new games when the child is bored. Such place just “came to us” recently – we were invited to Hotel SPA Dom Zdrojowy in Jastarnia. We went there to check it out and it turns out it really is a paradise for kids!!!! 🙂
I always think nicely about Jastarnia. I remember spending vacation there in the 90’s, I remember waffles with whipped cream, fried flounder and french fries with too much salt eaten from a paper cone, I remember going to a small cinema and walking to Jurata through the beach. I remember windbreaks and everyday discussions about which time is the best to go to the beach. I remember sweet buns with sugar icing and crumble. In 2016 they taste the same way they did in 1995! This time, we go to Jastarnia in May – before the season, so it’s quiet, empty, peaceful, and we have the whole beach to ourselves! I’m happy about the location of Dom Zdrojowy. It’s in the forest, right next to sand dunes and the beach! Once you go out of the hotel, you stand on the stairs, you climb them and boom, your feet are touching the sand and the sea is right there in front of you! A perfect place! When I think about getting to the beach, I think of backpacking through half the city, so such place fills me with happiness – it doesn’t matter where we go, hotels by the beach are the ones we love the most.
Is Dom Zdrojowy really a paradise for children? You should ask Maks! 🙂 Looking at the joy he drew from the pool, playroom and tableware for kids for breakfast, we had no doubts. As he likes to put it, “they really think about children in here!”. They had him at hello, when they gave him a coloring with a porpoise on it and crayons in the reception and then a small bathrobe with the sign “Domek Zdrojowy” was waiting for him in the room! It’s great for using the pool! That was where he spent most time, and right after the breakfast, he would run to the playroom, especially when his favorite animator lady was there. There was also a ropes course next to the hotel – it wasn’t a part of Dom Zdrojowy as I thought in the beginning, but if you pay, you get another cool form of entertainment both for kids and for adults. What else when it comes to pros of traveling with kids? There are two restaurants here, one with buffet and Czwarte Piętro, the elegant one, and there are playrooms, children’s menus and tableware for kids in both of them. In a word, there’s everything that the parents need! 🙂 During the season, they have baking workshops and contests for kids. Children below 6 years old don’t pay for their stay in the hotel.
I guess I don’t have to convince you that your kids will be happy there? 🙂 The pictures say it all! I’m sure you will ask about the food. We got to taste breakfasts, buffet lunches and dinners in one and we once visited the Czwarte Piętro restaurant. We didn’t have time for more because all these fried and smoked fish and waffles with whipped cream and strawberries won’t eat themselves! I am officialy in love with the breakfasts! There’s everything you’d wish for – cold cuts, cheeses, fried eggs, wieners, pancakes, vegetables, fish, muesli, sweets, fruits, yogurts. Everything! There’s even more – waffle iron, so you can have real seaside style breakfasts. 100% debauchery!
Lunches and dinners in one are plentiful as well – you can choose from appetizers, soups, main dishes, cheeses and desserts. I think everybody will find something for themselves! The Czwarte Piętro restaurant is something I can tell least about. For sure it has a great tarrace with a view on the forest and the sea for warm days, menu for children with a delicious chicken broth (the basics!) and yummy goat cheese with beets and pecans. The rest you’re going to have to check out for yourself! 🙂
We spent 2,5 days in Jastarnia. We got to walk around the town, the beach, we took a train to Hel to eat good fish, we rode our bikes to Jurata for the best waffles ever. Although we were there for such a small amount of time, we came back relaxed, rested and full of fresh air, fish and waffles. Maks, even though there were no peers for him in Dom Zdrojowy, had a lot of fun. Dom Zdrojowy gets 5+ both for adults and kids!:) If you want more relax, there are SPA, massages, cosmetic treatments and other stuff too.
PS. Dom Zdrojowy is not just child-friendly, but also animal-friendly – you can bring your dog or cat with you, as long as it doesn’t weigh more than 25 kilos 🙂
