I like that kind of places. You’re coming to have a quick lunch only, it turns out to be a great spot and you keep thinking how tasty it was for the next few days along with wondering when will you return. I visited a place like that on Monday. Lunch with a friend from student times. We usually meat near her workplace and often test new places. This time we thought about Indian and Mexican stuff, but then I remembered about Heritage Shop & Wine on Narutowicz Square I heard about somewhere, sometime ago but forgot about for quite a while.

I checked their fanpage before we met. The menu is short and changes quite often – it’s not a regular restaurant after all. It’s a wine shop that also sells Italian products and offers something to eat at the same time. On Monday morning I still could check their Sunday’s menu – pumpkin or tomato cream soup (PLN 8), salmon carpaccio as the only antipasti and then 3 categories: Meat, Flour and Sea. Meat and Sea included one meal each – i.e. tuna with lentils (PLN 37). Flour category offered tagliatelle with seafood, gnocchi with boletus, risotto with chicken (PLN 25-31). I want to go there! 🙂

I arrived on Narutowicz Square on Monday. Grey, grim and empty at that time. Until I saw Heritage Shop & Wine. It’s charming. Several tables, lots of wine bottles. A counter with Italian hams and cheeses you can buy and take home along with a selection of various types of gnocchi or pouches you can eat in or take away. Cool idea – guess I have to check on that as well.

Unfortunately, we came a bit early and we’re not that hungry just yet. It’s a pity since I would be happy to try something more!!! My friend goes for pizza Diavola (PLN 24) and I must try some pasta! It’s an easy choice this time: pouches with pear and cheeses (PLN 26). I also ask the staff about all these gnocchi and other delicacies. It turns out they don’t make it here, but supposedly they buy it in an Italian manufactory. Let’s see how they taste! 🙂 We wait for a while drinking tea. It’s quite empty – people come to the shop and go occasionally but you still get the feeling that the world started turning a little bit slower even though it’s Monday.

What can I say, when our lunch arrives the first thing I notice is how delicious it looks! Pizza isn’t a traditional circle – it’s really long and served on a wooden board. The dough is thin, the sauce is tasty, all A+! But it’s my pouches that absolutely rule! That’s the kind of pasta I love and that is quite difficult to find. Tender dough, sweetish pear flavour, creamy and cheesy sauce (do I sense gorgonzola??), plenty of parmesan and walnuts on top of it! I know that it must be a million calories or so but what can you do if it’s so tasty!!!??!:) The way it’s served is a masterpiece of its own. Instead of a plate – deep or shallow – I get a metal bowl which makes the pouches look even more charming. I indulge myself with every bite regretting that I haven’t discovered this place earlier and promising to take Łukasz here.

I leave Heritage satisfied. Satisfied with a pleasant meeting and delicious lunch. That’s a place where time seemingly flows slower and where you really miss Italy. I will definitely return for more!!!!

PS. From what I read on their Facebook, I learned that they have more spots in town – in Powiśle and on Zbawiciela square. But before you go, check if they serve food in all of their shops. You can try te place on Narutowicz square without checking! 🙂
