Singapore! We knew for a long time that eventually we’ll get here! We always knew that every culinary freak must come here, especially if – like us – you’re mad about Asian cuisine! So we made it a must on our coming Asian trip. I’ll be honest with you – the expectations were extremely high and fuelled by poor food in Burma. We were eager, hopeful and hungry because after 2 weeks in Burma I started to miss Polish food and a crispy baguette with ordinary butter and tasty ham! For a moment I even thought that I got sick of Asian cuisine and couldn’t believe myself for a moment…

On our last day in Burma, we couldn’t wait for the our departure. We were after 12 hours on a night bus from Nyuang Shwe near Inle Lake where the temperature dropped to 11 degrees at night (in the bus, not outside!) and every visit to a toilet during stops was making me sick because of the omnipresent dirtiness. A poor breakfast at the hotel near the airport where even milk for Maks looked weird and 1.5 hours spent driving around Rangoon unsuccessfully looking for a restaurant we wanted to eat in (even though we knew the address and had a map!!!) We got sick of it all. ENOUGH. Hungry and pissed off, we arrived at the airport. Singapore seemed like a distant promised land…

After 2 days spent here we are absolutely sure that it is indeed THE PROMISED LAND! A culinary paradise! PARADISE for all those who went mad for food and fell in love with Asian cuisine! A paradise you will easily fall in love with!

Impressive skyscrapers with Marina Sands Bay at the helm which we see every day before going to sleep and after opening our eyes. Tidiness, convenience, fast MRT subway which will get you practically everywhere, shops on every corner and food everywhere. Amazing diversity.. a business district, beautiful Chinatownshimmering with red colour (like in Bangkok – it became our favourite district!!), Little India with all sorts of Indian fabrics and shops that reminded us of our trip to India, Arab Quarter with hummus and a large mosque. So many flavours, so much diversity!

But it’s the FOOD that’s most important in Singapore! Come here hungry (like we did after Burma!) and surrender yourself to the pleasures of nibbling in various food courts, little restaurants, shopping centres (the shopping centres are so tasty here!) and at shared tables in Chinatown! Soups with fish balls (fishball noodle soup), dim sums, wontons, gyoza, crab meat, tofu, more soup, coconuts, sugar cane juice, bubble tea and all over again. A real PARADISE, believe me!!! 🙂 Unfortunately today is our last day here, so we’re in a hurry to enjoy the city a bit more. Expect a very tasty entry with our culinary picks soon!!! 🙂
