Charging the batteries… amassing the energy for the next few weeks, a quick break to breathe some air. Everyone deserves it once in a while, right? Especially in moments when you’re so busy that you forget your name, your head seems like it’s going to explode because of hundreds of expectations from others. From the child, husband (cohabitant?:)), boss, colleague, work partner, friend, parents, grandma.. Do you ever get the feeling that everybody wants something from you? 🙂 If so, it means it’s time to run away!

And a stressed Polish mother is someone that needs a recharge the most once in a while. I don’t like being overworked and stressed “Polish mother” too much, I don’t like to be in a constant hurry, not having time for a peaceful lunch, a walk, some fun with Maks, or time for just the two of us. 1-2, sometimes even 3 days of running can be fascinating and exciting. Adrenaline, speed, putting out fires. 5 days is a bit too much of that… and lately I’m having marathons of 5 days times 4,5 or 6…

So we ran away! Last Friday we went to Hotel SPA dr Irena Eris Wzgórza Dylewskie… Hoping to go for relaxing walks, relax in the pool, eat some good food and spent time together. And you know what? We managed to do it all! I won’t write about the SPA because I’m not much of an expert on the subject. When I’m told to lie down and get massaged I get bored and start looking for a book or a magazine anywhere near. If I fail to find it, I start planning next few days in my head. Quite relaxing, isn’t it? 🙂 That’s why I prefer to sit at the pool and relax with “Twój Styl” in my hand as it is one magazine that’s synonymous with relaxation for me (I always buy it to read on the plane before long trips!)… Try to understand me even if you consider lack of interest in SPA and massages not so feminine and generally weird… 🙂

So, what other cool things are there in Wzgórza Dylewskie if you’re not a SPA person? I was particularly happy about three things:

1) a hotel that’s child-friendly like no other

2) relax, relax, relax

3) delicious food – but I won’t repeat myself as I already wrote about the food here!

1) children-friendly hotel…

I’ll be honest with you, that’s the thing that Wzgórza Dylewskie won my heart with. There’s nothing better for a mother exhausted after a whole week than knowing that your child won’t get bored, won’t complain and complicate your life because there is so many things to do and play with. On Friday night, after 5 days of running, this feeling is really something…

The trip was alright (approx. 190 km from Warsaw), and not too long even with the snow around. Maks was only moderately grumble and we silenced him with crisps and … Peppa on the smatphone. There is a giant teddy bear wearing a night gown in the hotel lobby! First joy for Maks. The receptionist handed him a little plush sheep with a little brown towel – I think he’s going swimming! Even more joy…

After a few moments in our room we went to have dinner… I’m often afraid of dinners with Maks in posh hotels. You know how it is, the hotels are elegant, the guests are often snobby and the menu tends to be too exquisite to find something for a 2-year old with a fixed culinary likes 🙂 When we entered the restaurant here, the first thing that the waiter suggested was a table by the playground. What a relief!

Part of the restaurant is separated from the rest and you can find a few tables and a playground there. A house, plush toys, wooden bricks, a little table.. Maks “is gone”. There’s a lot of children there – play companions. More joy again… How about the menu? A separate children’s one. Looks just like the regular one except for Winnie the Pooh on the cover. It includes soups, noodles, dumplings, pancakes and little schnitzels – anything a picky few-year old little one could wish for. Great! Lunch and dinner dishes come from a fixed menu (if you book your stay with alimentation included) and therefore if there’s enough children, they get their own buffet! Obviously it has its pros and cons. Even though lunch lasts 2-3 hours, the noodles from the buffet are always a bit drier than those freshly prepared. Same goes for the schnitzel and the French fries. On the other hand, there’s a lot to choose from and we don’t have to be afraid of our little one’s mood during lunch time anymore – you don’t like French fries? Have some noodles, a salmon or a schnitzel. A soup, biscuits, jelly desserts and Maks’ “noodles with tomato sauce? I love it” to go with it.

After lunch you can either go swimming in the pool, visit the playroom with a babysitter-animator providing entertainment from 10 am to 7 pm, in the summer play at the playground and during winter, sledge or walk around the nearby hills. So much joy and fun that we didn’t manage to take advantage of all of it during our 2-day stay!

2) relax, relax, relax…

Every mother and every mother knows that section 1) already promises a great weekend and relaxation for adults. Busy and happy child equals a satisfied parent! The key spot is the pool, 2 pools and 3 Jacuzzi to be more precise (Maks’ favourite thing to do!). There’s more: different types of sauna, beach chairs, magazines, white gowns. It all makes you feel good and relaxed. There’s no children’s little pool, but a small, round Jacuzzi seems to be kids’ favourite! It includes water wings, kickboards and an inflatable water wheel. Surprisingly Maks decides to use it for the first time in his life. And he’s doing great! 🙂

What I liked the most was the fact that the swimming pool was open until 10 pm, so you could have fun even after dinner. 200 % of Maks’ joy! There’s a gym next to the pool, but unfortunately we didn’t have enough time for such attractions… Ok, not necessarily! We could have visited the gym but the idea of lying on the beach chair with the newest issue of “Twój Styl” in my hand was priceless and I just couldn’t spoil it 🙂

maybe a hot Jacuzzi or sauna instead of a swimming pool?

Briefly speaking: it was two days with a set of perfectly relaxing activities: waking up, breakfast, a winter walk and sledge, pool, lunch, relaxing in the room or going to the playroom with the little one, dinner, pool.

The place is great even if you are travelling without children; you can hire cross-country skis if you prefer more intense activities. Older kids can go for a Bigfoot Search Trip around nearby hills and woods on weekends and during holidays. The trip ends with a bonfire and bratwurst. We’ve seen such trip during our stay. All I can say is that it’s a pity Maks is so small!!! But apart from ordinary walks we went for a tiny hike in the snow with Maks on his sledge. He must have felt like during a survival trip. 🙂

If the swimming pool, walks in the snow, tasty food are not enough for you, and if you like massages (I know – I’m weird :)) check the SPA section which looks quite inviting and relaxing. Even for me, a massage rookie.:)

So, who’s going there for a weekend? 🙂
