Mokot\u00f3w. I think it’s one of the closest neighborhoods to me. I memorized every inch of it in my childhood, because Mokot\u00f3w is where my grandmother has lived. We would visit her often in summer, especially when my cousin came from the United States. We had our trips to the stores on Pu\u0142awska Street and to Zielona Budka on Unia Square. There was a playground by my mother’s school, olds streets, misterious corners. Every time I come back to Mokot\u00f3w and Kazimierzowska, Narbutta or Madali\u0144skiego Street, I feel as if I went back in time… I like taking Maks to the playground by Ody\u0144ca Street or for some ice cream on Narbuta Street… or for Thai food on Unia Square or for breakfast on D\u0105browskiego Street, which is so close to my grandma’s. And you know what? I think Mokot\u00f3w is one of the best known neighborhoods to us when it comes to cuisine and it’s the one that has a lot to offer! See if you know all of these places and if I’ve forgotten something, add it to the list!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

What does Mokot\u00f3w taste like?<\/strong> Its tastes vary. This is where we manage to find various cuisines in and places, each one for a different occasion! The order is a little random, but it also depends on where we go most often \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

1) Mamma Marietta <\/a>– Wo\u0142oska 74 A Street<\/h3>\n

Mokot\u00f3w’s number 1 when it comes to Italian food for us – great pastas, delicious gnocchi, very good pizza and, according to \u0141ukasz, one of the best tiramisus in town, better than some of the ones we’ve had in Italy. Small place, very nice in the summer because it has tables outside. One of Maks’s favorite places because they also have small pizzas and kids (if their parents allow) can get lollipops for dessert.<\/p>\n

2) Basil & Lime<\/a> – Pu\u0142awska 27 Street<\/h3>\n

I think I don’t have to introduce you to Basil & Lime<\/strong>. It always comes back to our lists of places with Thai<\/a> and Asian cuisine<\/a> and Maks’s favorite places<\/a>. It comes back to our Facebook posts because we visit it pretty often. Out of our favorites we recommend classics, pad thai and tom kha gai and my love – pad kee mao with beef! They have a corner for kids downstairs and during the winter there also were some animators – you should see if they’re there now!<\/p>\n

3) Mezze\u00a0<\/a> – R\u00f3\u017cana 1 Street<\/h3>\n

You will see me there more often than you will see \u0141ukasz. I love their hummus, crispy falafels, shakshuka and cassava pudding with mango – it’s fabulous! Nice place for a quick lunch (especially since they have a lunch menu) or a meeting with your friend for gossiping. Order Arabian Plate – you will be in love! Even my mom loved Mezze! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

4) Jednoro\u017cec Lody tradycyjne<\/a> – Narbutta 38 Street<\/h3>\n

This year’s discovery of mine. Small ice-cream shop on the corner of Narbutta and Kazimierzowska Street draws crowds in the summer! Delicious gianduja, pistachio and hazelnut ice cream. It’s an attraction for children too, because each ice cream cone gets a small unicorn’s horn \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

5) Gofiarnia<\/a> – Pu\u0142awska 11 Street<\/h3>\n

For sweet and dry waffles that will make for a perfect late breakfast or small lunch. When it comes to my sweet favorites, I really like ginger ones with mascarpone and caramel. Out of dry ones, you should try the tomato, mozzarella and pesto one. Not that long ago they opened one more place – it’s on Modzelewskiego 83 Street, in Mokot\u00f3w.<\/p>\n

6) R\u00f3\u017cana<\/a> – Chocimska 7 Street<\/h3>\n

R\u00f3\u017cana is a classic if you want to take someone for a traditional Polish food in a beautiful place with perfect waiters. This is the kind of place you need to take your grandmother or grandfather to and they will love it!:) Or some guests from outside of Poland! Their beautiful, fairy-tale garden will bring you to your knees. Once you’re there, you will definitely not feel that you’re close to one of the most crowded streets in Warsaw. You should try duck with potatoes and apples.<\/p>\n

7) \u015aniadaniownia<\/a> – D\u0105browskiego 38 Street<\/h3>\n

Like the name suggests, it’s a perfect breakfast place. It’s cosy, warm and kind of hidden in the winter. In the summer you can sit outside. They have one of the biggest breakfast menus in town. They have various sets, eggs, omelets, granolas, millet porridges, smoothies, bagels. Whatever you want! I ate great avocado, cottage cheese and spicy salsa bagel. Good start of the week! Watch out: \u015aniadaniownia is open for breakfast – there’s nothing to look for there after 2 PM on weekdays and after 3 PM on weekends, but you can arrive there at 8 AM on weekdays and at 9 AM on weekends and get an amazing breakfast.<\/p>\n

8) Ciao a Tutti Due<\/a> – D\u0105browskiego 27 Street<\/h3>\n

If you lose your sense of time in \u015aniadaniownia and decide it’s time for lunch, there’s nothing easier than that. You just need to cross the street and go to Ciao a Tutti Due<\/strong>, one of the best pizza places in Warsaw! \ud83d\ude42 If you know Ciao a Tutti<\/a> on Wawelska Street, you know it’s worth it! If not, check it out – its pizza rules!<\/p>\n

9) Gringo Bar<\/a> – Odola\u0144ska 15 Street<\/h3>\n

If you decide to take a walk down D\u0105browskiego Street towards Pu\u0142awska Street and you turn into Odola\u0144ska Street, you will find a Mecca of Mexican tastes, which is Gringo Bar<\/strong>. Short, simple menu with super fresh tacos, quesadillas and burritos. Intense tastes, fresh vegetables and great salsas – especially the one with mango!<\/p>\n

10) Milanovo Bread Wine Cafe <\/a>– \u00a0Pu\u0142awska 142 Street, on the corner of\u00a0Woronicza Street<\/h3>\n

I’ve only been there once, but I loved breakfasts at Milanovo Bread Wine Cafe<\/strong> on Pu\u0142awska Street just like I loved the place – perfect in every details, cosy, in pastel colors. They have great breakfast waffles and very good smoothies<\/em>. You can also choose from a lot of\u00a0p\u00e2t\u00e9s for bread that I need to try next time I’m there. You can go there for breakfast, lunch (they have lunch waffles and other things!) or dinner.<\/p>\n

11) Befsztyk<\/a> – Pu\u0142awska 178\/179 Street<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Looking around the neighborhood, pretty close from Milanovo, you will find Befsztyk<\/strong>. Perfect place to get stuff you need when throwing a bbq, making steaks or burgers. We buy whatever we need for such occasions there, that’s why there’s no picture included. They have great quality meat – sausages, lamb sausages, but most of all, they have beef – \u0141ukasz says it will make everyone happy, including demanding fans of steaks! Once you’re there, you can have a pastrami sandwich.<\/p>\n

12) Efes <\/a>– Al. Niepodleg\u0142o\u015bci 80 Street
\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n

When \u0141ukasz feels like eating meat, we sometimes go to Efes on the corner of Niepodleg\u0142o\u015bci and Ody\u0144ca Street. One of the iconic places with Turkish cuisine, although I prefer Maho<\/a> – it’s closer to our house and they have bigger menu (if you don’t know it, we recommend it!). But if we get hungry after playing on out favorite playground on Ody\u0144ca Street, Efes is the best.<\/p>\n

13) Miel\u017cy\u0144ski<\/a> – Czerska 12 Street<\/h3>\n

We’ve been faithful to Miel\u017cy\u0144ski’s wine-bar forever. \u0141ukasz used to visit “Miel\u017cu” on Burakowska Street 2-3 times per week. We don’t have that many evenings to spend with wine anymore, but once we do, we sometimes choose newer Miel\u017cy\u0144ski on Czerska Street in Agora’s building than Burakowska. When it comes to food, it’s not our number 1, but if you want to have some wine, bread, cheese and cold cuts, it’s always a good spot!<\/p>\n

14) Locale<\/a> – Jana Bytnara 23\/25 Street<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Locale is another pizza place in Mokot\u00f3w. It’s pretty new and pretty small, and their pizza is pretty good. What makes them special is their interesting taste compositions like pizza with mozzarella, spinach, red onion, red carmelized onion and goat cheese or the one with pear, mascarphone, Parma ham and arugola.<\/p>\n

15) Mokotowski Bar Mleczny<\/a> – u\u0142awska 63 Street<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

No doubt this is the cheapest place out of all listed ones. If after all these Italian, Mexican or Thai foods you feel like eating something Polish, traditional, you can go to Mokotowski Bar Mleczny. Kopytka, pierogi, pancakes, tomato soup with rice, meat patty or pork chop and pictures taken out of old Polish movies.<\/p>\n

16) Dzik<\/a> – Belwederska 44A Street<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Dzik is a place for a party, outing with friends or for a great ending of your adventures in town at 2 or 3 AM. During the day, you can eat pretty good food in Dzik and in the summer they serve nice brunches every Sunday – with simple but good BBQ food, chairs in the sun and animator for children. I wonder if it will be the same next year! I wrote about it HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n

17) Ma\u0142a Polana Smak\u00f3w<\/a> – Belwederska 13\/44 Street<\/h3>\n

We’ve loved Andrzej Polan’s food since Soul Kitchen on Nowakowskiego Street. Ma\u0142a Polana Smak\u00f3w on Belwederska Street hasn’t always been that good, but it’s a nice idea for delicious, Polish food made of high quality ingredients in an interesting, new version. Seasonal menu changes quite often – now you can eat pierogi with chanterelles, broad beans, spinach and sheep’s cheese or fried saffron milk cups.<\/p>\n

18) Po Prostu Art Bistro <\/a>– Czerniowiecka 9 Street<\/h3>\n

This is the oldest picture used in this post \ud83d\ude42 I took it a hundred years ago, in 2012 \ud83d\ude42 We still had our old blog Widelcem przez \u015awiat – I can tell by the quality \ud83d\ude09 I go back to Po Prostu from time to time, lately mostly for breakfast – they have nice sets and a lot of offers. Their atmosphere is good for gossiping with a friends, business conversations and working on your laptop.<\/p>\n

19) China Town <\/a>– Al. Lotnik\u00f3w 28 Street<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

China Town, a place not that far away from Galeria Mokot\u00f3w, is a place that’s been with us for years. \u0141ukasz has been visiting them since 2002! You can always meet crowds of Chinese people there – that’s because of their good food. We’ve already tried a lot of things from their menu and out favorites are tofu mapo (with minced meat), Gong Bao chicken with peanuts, spicy beef with pepper and beans or fish spiced eggplant (yes, you got it right!). If you go there while you’re hangover, order spicy and sour soup. It will help! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

20)\u00a0 Winiarnia \u017bU\u017bU<\/a> – Kazimierzowska 43 Street<\/h3>\n

We know \u017buzu on Kazimierzowska Street mostly because of mussels, great mussels<\/a>! Aromatic mussels in classical French marinara sauce. Well prepared and a great quality of the product. \u017bu\u017cu is our Mokot\u00f3w place for mussels. Or maybe you know some other places?<\/p>\n
