I just couldn\u2019t miss a place like Mojo Pic\u00f3n<\/strong>. Spanish tapas keep having their charm and magic for me and can quickly teleport me to somewhere to Barcelona, Madrid or Basque San Sebastian. They bring sun, the scent of Spanish cities, squares full of life, conversations and laughter and streets that are loud and lively until late night. When you add plenty of Spanish products you can take home, Spanish music and specialties from the Canary Islands you can be sure that you\u2019ll find a piece of Spain in a tiny bar on ul. Pozna\u0144ska 3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

At first someone on Facebook told us about Mojo Picon<\/a> and then I saw a note about them somewhere and knew I have to give them a try. First attempt wasn\u2019t successful \u2013 I drove to ul. Pozna\u0144ska, miraculously found a parking spot and, went ahead happily towards the distinct wine barrels and found a note on the window which read \u2018be back at 4.30\u2019. It was 2.30 at the time, I was starving so I gave up. A week later I tried again, and yes, it was open! It\u2019s definitely one of the smallest places in Warsaw. You walk down the stairs and see about 5 chairs, a bar, shelves heavy with Spanish flavours and a counter with tapas in this characteristic brown bowls. Spanish music is on. You can feel the spirit instantly.. The owners are Spanish which explains it.<\/p>\n

Menu includes plenty of classics with an obligatory tortilla de patatas, croquetas<\/em> or paella. There\u2019s also meals typical for The Canary Islands such as papas con mojo<\/em> (potatoes with a distinct sauce) or ropa vieja<\/em> – literally it means \u2018old clothes\u2019 and in reality it\u2019s a stew made from beef, chicken and chickpeas. Sometimes you can also get a ropa vieja<\/em> with octopus and I have to say I really want this one! There\u2019s also calamari in ink, peppers stuffed with cod, shrimps with mascarpone and brandy, chorizo in wine, sweets such as ensa\u00efmada<\/em> – popular both on Mallorca and The Canary Islands.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately I\u2019m here alone so I can only order 2 types of tapas. I go for croquetas con bacalao<\/em><\/strong> – Spanish croquets with cod and obviously tortilla de patatas<\/strong> <\/em>, you can also have a tortilla with spinach, chorizo or shrimps. Most tapas cost PLN 15. First I eat croquetas \u2013 tasty, with a very fishy filling but not crispy enough on the outside in my opinion \u2013 maybe that\u2019s the staff\u2019s fault \u2013 it\u2019s the first day a new girls works here \u2013 she\u2019s super friendly, but she also admits she hasn\u2019t got a grip of everything just yet \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

But the tortilla… perfect! So easy \u2013 potatoes, eggs, onion and it tastes so good! I upgrade it with a bit of spicy \u2018mojo\u2019 and garlicky aioli. My heart is broken, because I can\u2019t finish my portion!!! Tapas is definitely better when eaten with friends!!!<\/p>\n

I leave Mojo Pic\u00f3n satisfied and smiling, with a full belly, Spanish music playing in my head and a Spanish newspaper in my hand. This place teleports you to Spain with every bite of tortilla you take. Croquetas weren\u2019t my no. 1 but still, I know I\u2019ll be back for more!!! I can\u2019t wait to eat tapas in the sun, on the wine barrel in front of the place! Then it will be 100% Spain \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

PS1. Be sure to buy Spanish cold cuts such chorizo or gazpacho, bonito tuna, mojo sauce and a whole lot of other Spanish delicacies!<\/p>\n

PS2. Instead of a receipt I got a card payment confirmation so you have to believe me \u2013 PLN 15 for a tortilla, PLN 15 for croquetas, PLN 5 for Cola \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n
