We\u2019ve left Hong Kong behind. On New Year\u2019s Eve, early morning, after the last portion of dim sums eaten for breakfast we left this large and lively city in order to relax on a Filipino beach with white sand, warm water and a whole bunch of holiday palms. A city that amazes, impresses and leaves you with your jaw down. A dream to come true, always exotic, totally unexpected. Unique, unusual, different. When we arrived in Hong Kong on 25th December, barely conscious after a long trip and we rode a taxi through the streets that were coming back to life, we couldn\u2019t help looking at the huge skyscrapers towering over us. Huge, often intriguing, sometimes overwhelming. They\u2019re everywhere! Not only the glass architectural wonders in Central District or Wan Chai but also these from the faceless districts that were a bit scary with thousands of tiny windows, a bit depressive, where I surely wouldn\u2019t want to live in.<\/p>\n

Despite that, we loved Hong Kong. I know that we will miss it and I know I would like to come back. To the crowded streets, thousands of colours, Chinese neon lights, subway which can take you anywhere, dim sums everywhere and anytime, noodle soups with wontons in tiny places full of locals, desserts with taro, coconut milk and red beans, amazing, breathtaking landscapes and airborne footpaths floating over the streets. To the walks around Victoria Peak and the view you will never forget, crowded Nathan Road and shopping centres in which you can eat some really delicious stuff, quiet, calm temples hidden somewhere between everyday rush and chase. I already know that Hong Kong will not only be one of my favourite Asian cities but also one of my favourite cities in general! I also know you have to go there! \ud83d\ude42<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s amazing that these amazing views can be found in various places, not necessarily those crowded with tourists. We stayed quite far from the city centre, right next to Ngau Tau Kok subway station and Hong King by night from our L’hotel Elan<\/a>, especially from the 35th floor was really amazing! The pictures above were taken there!:)<\/p>\n

But being in Hong Kong, you have to go on and take some pictures where everyone else does it! \ud83d\ude42 First location is the Victoria Peak, the highest hill on Hong Kong island<\/strong>. In order to get there, take Peak Tram (first stop near Hong Kong Park, by Garden Road). The lift has been taking tourists to the top of the hill since 1888! You need to be patient though, since you often have to spend even 3 hours in the queue in order to board it! We\u2019re not patient at all and so, quite accidentally, we chose another way to get there \u2013 first the seemingly infinite Mid-Level Escalators which took us to Mid-Levels district, than a bit on foot and seeing that there\u2019s no way we\u2019re going to get on the lift, we took a taxi to the top. The views were amazing both by day (you can see it HERE)<\/a> and by night, even with poor visibility and light fog!<\/p>\n

Another must is the view of Central District, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay form Kowloon promenade right next to Tsim Sha Tsui and a stop for ferries sailing from Kowloon to Hong Kong island.That\u2019s where the Avenue of Stars is where you can see a colourful light show everyday at 8 pm. He panorama of Hong Kong makes your heart beat faster at all times of the day \u2013 by day and by night when the famous buildings such as HSBC build according to feng shui rules or rough Bank of China are lit. And even though the promenade tends to be very crowded at night because lots of people want to get a perfect shot (who wouldn\u2019t???) or best selfie, it\u2019s still worth coming! You just can\u2019t leave HK without seeing that!<\/p>\n

As we walked around Hong Kong, we had to stop to take pictures many times. Colourful streets that were full of lights, crowds and Chinese symbols is something I will remember the most. Streets that are lively even late in the night, where you start you dinner with a 3-year-old at 10 pm and barely fit into the subway at 11 pm, where you want to get carried with the omnipresent crowds. And even though Hong Kong may seem like a tiring place after which you need silence, space and emptiness around you, it\u2019s as addictive and incredible! As you can see!<\/p>\n
