Our visit to the Christmas fairs in Germany<\/a> in 2013 was an experience we remembered for quite a long time. We still keep thinking about the magic and distinct Christmas atmosphere. This year we also planned to go and see the fairs. We thought of Prague or Budapest or maybe a pre-Christmas, colourful London or Brussels with chocolate aroma? But due to lots of work, plans and duties needed to be done we decided to give up on looking for Christmas in foreign lands and instead tried to feel the Christmas spirit for a moment on Cracow’s main square on our way home from Zakopane.<\/p>\n

We remembered the Christmas fair in Cracow from some time ago. It’s not the first time we stop here on our way from Zakopane to Warsaw. A few years ago in ‘pre-\u0141ukasz’ era I went to the fair with my friends. I always loved it and felt a bit envious that there’s no such thing in Warsaw. Therefore if you want to feel the Christmas fair atmosphere and don’t feel like travelling to Germany, visit Cracow! \ud83d\ude42 There’s plenty of colourful stands, lots of beautiful things to buy starting with beautifully decorated gingerbread, through incredible colourful tools and ending with Christmas balls, decorations, wooded boxes for treasures or smiling wooden spoons. I wanted to walk around from one stand to another and try to find something for myself from all these wonders but unfortunately it was impossible with our 4-year-old since he would be happy to buy everything!!! \ud83d\ude42 In the end, we bought a smiling wooden spoon for PLN 5 – making scrambled eggs is going to be much nicer from now on \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

There’s no Christmas fair without street food! What can you eat in Cracow?? We walked around the stands a little bit and came to a conclusion that the culinary offer isn’t particularly broad. But the classics are present: oscypek cheese served hot with cranberry sauce, dumplings, pork knuckle, skewered meat, sausages or bread with lard and cucumber. Desserts? Maks wants a cake called kurtosz in Hungarian, trdelnik in Czech and a chimney cake in Polish. He knows it from Wierchomla<\/a>\u00a0from last year where Kurtosz was a must every day. We also check the stand with chocolate fruits which I love! We get dried cherries in dark and milk chocolate while Maks begs for chocolate puffs. What the hell, let’s buy some! It’s not every day you go to a Christmas fair! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
