We’ve been thinking about eating something Greek for a while…It may not be our favourite cuisine and we may not be eating Greek stuff too often but it’s not because we don’t like it. We just like different cuisines more: Italian, Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, sushi and Spanish tapas (that’s me!). We rarely eat anything Greek, we didn’t even had a Greek restaurant reviewed on our blog! (ok, apart from the miserable Greek Zorbas in August\u00f3w<\/a> ;)). Lately feta, capsicum, courgettes and seafood started calling us and made it clear – we need to go to a Greek restaurant.<\/p>\n

We’ve already been planning to visit Paros<\/a> on ul. Jasna before. Perfect location, especially for us since we often visit ul. Chmielna. Attractive interior with plenty of Greek touches – all in white and blue. Time to check the food!<\/p>\n

We go through the menu. I would already like to try pretty much everything from the cold and warm starters section! Melitzanosalata<\/strong> – sliced aubergines baked with capsicum, garlic and walnuts sounds tempting, same goes for Olympos<\/strong> (grilled slices of aubergine and courgettes with feta cheese), courgette chips, shrimp saganaki and plenty of other meals with lots of aubergine and feta cheese. In the end, the starters turn out to be so interesting that we go for 3 different ones, omitting the main courses completely. Were having fried calamari<\/strong> (PLN 28), lindos (slices of aubergine, courgettes and florinis baked in tomato and feta cheese sauce<\/strong> PL 22) and saganaki but with mussels instead of shrimps (PLN 28). It’s not in the menu, but the waiter consults it with the kitchen and they agree to make it for us. A good start!<\/p>\n

All starters are PERFECT! Crispy and delicate calamari without excessive batter, served the way we love it! Reminds us of Crete. Mussels prepared properly, floating in a delicious tomato, onion and feta cheese sauce that makes you wanna lick the plate clean! Lindos is a simple thing – grilled vegetables, sauce and crushed feta cheese. Fantastic barbecue flavour does the trick. Beware though! If you’re not particularly hungry, don’t order too many starters – the portions are quite huge as for starters. As usual, we share all the meals, eating them ‘Spanish tapas style’ – best way to do it in Paros as it all looks super tempting.<\/p>\n

As for main courses, there’s obviously plenty of meat to choose from, some fish as well. Traditional meat skewers, lamb chops, a moussaka. We’re not feeling like eating meat and keep searching for something else: ravioles kipriakes<\/strong> sounds like a great idea! Ravioli isn’t exactly a Greek thing but the description sounds promising: Cypriot ravioli with haloumi cheese and mint cooked in broth and served with anari hard goat’s cheese<\/strong> (PLN 32).<\/p>\n

Ravioli is quite filling and very tasty. It’s funny that it tastes much better than in many Italian restaurants! The dough is good and delicate, mint and cheese filling and all sprinkled with more cheese. Once again, the idea to eat together from one plate works great – ravioli is delicious, but I don’t think I would be able to eat it all by myself \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

Everything tastes great so we have to try the desserts too. This part of the menu seems the least attractive (not that many tempting meals to choose from) but we would be happy to try Nemesis – a mascarpone and caramel cake served with roast almonds<\/strong> (PLN 14) and Greek yoghurt with honey and figs stewed in Metaxa<\/strong> (PLN 12). There’s no way we could eat two – we’re already bursting at the seams! The cake wins. It’s tasty, but I guess I’d rather have another starter instead \ud83d\ude42 It’s delicate, very creamy, sweet and caramel works great with roast nuts but after all it’s just another variation on a cheesecake, just more delicate. We expected something more exciting \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

On Paros’ website you can read that it’s a ‘Greek island in the centre of Warsaw’. That’s 100% truth! If you once fell in love with Greek flavours, if they remind you of idyllic Crete, Kos or Rodos, run for it! Greece is here! Delicious and genuine. That’s the kind of flavours we’ve been looking for!<\/p>\n

PS. Paros is not only a restaurant, reportedly there are wild parties taking place here on Friday nights with dances on the tables and stuff! I don’t know about you, but I always liked dancing on the table! I have the feeling that we will be back to check out the nightlife side of Paros \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
