Oh, how we dreamed about a trip without the child. A short holiday without a 4 year old volcano full of energy who stays in high performance mode from the early morning to the late evening, never sits down and never stops. Wakes up at 8 am and falls asleep at 11 pm. Who has his own opinion and own plans regarding what to do today. He can start a fight because the jacket is ‘too big’ and the shoes which were perfect yesterday suddenly turn out to be ‘too small’. Also, because he didn’t press the button in the elevator, because we didn’t take his little bike, because we ran out of cocoa, daddy entered the elevator first and mommy turned off the cartoon during the best part – end titles. I love my almost 4 year old little one, but sometimes I need some rest. I love spending time with him, especially now when we can speak with each other, go for a walk, to the playground or for sushi which he loves as much as I do. But I also like spending time without him. You know how it is, right? Coffee drank in peace, quiet time for work without getting distracted every 5 minutes, lunch eaten with no rush, enjoying every bite of it, a long conversation with a friend which isn’t interrupted by ‘Leave it! Don’t go there, or you’ll fall down! Look out! Don’t bite it!’. And finally time spend just with the two of us… with your man, husband or fianc\u00e9. Like in times ‘before the child’, not only on the couch in front of the TV when the child falls asleep but during dinner, at a party, on vacation. We still like taking some ‘time off’, especially on Saturday evenings which often last until Sunday lunch. Who said a mother can’t hang around in Warsaw at night, drink wine with friends and dance on a table in a club? Yes, she can!<\/p>\n

Sometimes we take some more time off… we leave for two, three or four days. We spend time together, sometimes go for blog trips that are no good for kids. This time we went alone for 7 days for the first time. Sunday to Sunday. We left Maks with his loving grandparents so that we could take advantage of the ski trip. Ride from the early morning until the lifts are closed, ride together, not in shifts. No hurry because \u0141ukasz is waiting for his turn, instead get the chance to sit down on the slope and enjoy the sun. After skiing we could lie down in our beds and even though we had laptops and had to work, at least nobody wanted our mobile phones every 5 minutes, nobody threw the pots off the cupboard, nobody tried to destroy a book, paint the wall with a marker, fall over or hit his head. We could go full egoist and only think about ourselves during these dew days. Was it cool? For sure! Because we had time just for ourselves, we could finally enjoy skiing in perfect weather and good conditions, because we rarely have the opportunity to relax.<\/p>\n

But… there are moments when you regret that this little monster is not with you, that nobody wakes you up squeaking ‘mommy’ or with the sound of his little feet running. That nobody brings his worn teddy bears to your bed and doesn’t make you cuddle them to start the day, that nobody invades your bed at night and tries to make room in it like only he can. Nobody spills the milk during breakfast or moans when you have to go, nobody screams with joy at the sight of a gondola or runs on the snow. And even though you’re having some cool relaxing time, when you look at the snow groomers parked outside, you want to say ‘Wow, look at these cool machines! Have you ever seen anything like it?’, you pay attention to where the slides and other child attractions are and unintentionally remember it all. You boil your pasta and know that he would surely eat spaghetti without sauce if he had been here. You put bottles with wine on the shelf and wonder if he wouldn’t accidentally throw them down while playing.<\/p>\n

I like trips without the child because while I’m away I’m getting a few hundred percent more eager to do it all. Because all the things that sometimes irritate me so much and make me go mad(you know which ones!) does not seem so bad anymore and don’t matter at all.<\/p>\n

I like trips without the child, because only there I realise how lucky I am having this little person with me, who may sometimes scream, cry and be irritating as hell, but can also make you smile and feel better like nobody else. Vacation without a child has something beautiful about it – it’s the only vacation you actually want to get back from.<\/strong> There you have the white beaches, fascinating cities, delicious food, white slopes in the Alps, best museums and coolest concerts but it’s at home where the biggest miracle in the world awaits you.
