First place we ‘landed in’ on Bali was Ubud – I already told you about it in the entry about charming Amori Villa<\/a>. There’s no beach in Ubud but apart from numerous art galleries, shops with colourful souvenirs and wooden penises (???) and charming yet a bit expensive restaurants, there’s some other cool attractions available – for adults and for kids<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Like most of the toddlers, our Maks loves all sorts of animals – cats, cows, dogs and birds. He stops every cat he meets, greets every dog and when we visit our favourite landlords in Suwalszczyzna, he runs around watching cows in the barn and if there’s an aquarium in the restaurant, he keeps staring at the lobsters and crabs. It was clear to us then that the parrots and monkeys are a must in Ubud.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Parrots and all sorts of other magical birds are available to see in Bali Bird Park.<\/a><\/strong>. Quite an expensive endeavour (26 dollars for an adult and 12 dollars for a kid) but they say it’s worth the price! We didn’t get there since we got caught up in rain on our way and we had to give up on colourful birds sitting on our heads and shoulders.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

But the trip to MONKEY FOREST<\/strong> worked out great. It’s a holy Mandala Wisata Wanara Wana forest located close to Ubud city centre inhabited by ubiquitous macaques! We already got the chance to see them in Thailand on Krabi, where they stole coconuts from the people lying on the beach and drank their cocktails. We also saw them carelessly jumping around the cars in India and back in the day on Gibraltar. Here, we decided to give it a try for Maks. Approx. 600 macaques live in Monkey Forest<\/strong> in Ubud. You can already see them in the parking lot where they jump on the roofs of the cars and try to hunt something for themselves – be careful if you’re caring food, a bottle of water or a bag of groceries as its their possible prey! They should be eating bananas, corn, cucumbers and papaya, but want everything, including Coca Cola. Just don’t give them peanuts as it is forbidden!<\/p>\n

Macaques often jump on your head or shoulders, try to climb on you but usually do it only if you encourage them (consciously or not). Fortunately there’s plenty of guards in Monkey Forest and they know how to contain possible problems and react if necessary.<\/p>\n

Maks loved little monkey-toddlers the most, he was much too scared of the big ones, and so we had to carry him from time to time, but he loved the trip in general and keeps telling us that he’d love to see the monkeys once again. We considered Monkey Forest<\/strong> pretty impressive too – there’s really a lot of macaques there, you can watch their behaviour and the best thing about it is to see how similar to human beings they are. The way they care about their children is pretty touching \ud83d\ude42 The best monkey award goes to one little macaque who stole a bottle of Cola from somebody and drank it like mad!<\/p>\n

Monkey Forest is a vast area where apart from macaques, you can find a Hindu temple (people on Bali believe in Balinese Hinduism) and beautiful nature. A nice place for a walk!<\/p>\n
