Warsaw has lately been very generous to all foodies. More and more places emerge – restaurants, bars and tiny joints, and the ideas they have are more and more interesting! Nobody is surprised when dim sum bars pop out on the streets of Warsaw, even though the first one was only established in January 2014 and then, it was quite a thing. There’s also more and more places that are very tightly specialised and thus very attractive. Will Flambeeria<\/strong> be yet another one?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Le<\/strong> tarte flambee,<\/strong> in which Flambeeria<\/strong><\/a> specialises is an Alsatian dish which we know as flammkuchen<\/strong> or flammekueche.<\/strong> We first came upon it in German Wiesbaden, when we visited our friends in August 2011. It was the start of our great trip with 2,5 month old Maks and Wiesbaden hosted an annual wine festival then. Apart from wine, numerous booths and stands sold German street food: bratwursts, currywursts and flammkuchen<\/strong>! At first sight, they looked like thin pastries with some toppings. Traditional ones are served with cream, bacon and onion, but you can find others with rucola, sundried tomatoes and ham. Flammkuchen was my main culinary activity then, since being a feeding mother, I could not take advantage of Weinfest \ud83d\ude09 We met tarte flambee in Rhineland again and then in…. Warsaw!<\/p>\n

Flambeeria<\/strong> on ul. Emili Plater offers tarte flambee and two types of salad only. All types look tempting… maybe apart from the traditional one with onion, bacon and creme fraiche obviously – the base of all variations. We’re thinking about the one with slices of courgettes, goat’s cheese and rucola (PLN 23), one with gorgonzola, fresh pear and lavender flowers (PLN 23) but in the end, we go for potatoes, white sausage, fresh rosemary and sweet onion<\/strong> (PLN 21) and chorizo, shrimps, rucola and chili<\/strong>(PLN 25).<\/p>\n

It takes a while for our lunch to arrive as there’s a bunch of people sitting and the oven has limited capacity. So beware, you may not always be able to have a quick lunch at Flambeeria<\/strong>. We see them coming out of the oven and finally, ours come! They look nice served on wooden boards! And taste even better! Both! \u0141ukasz prefers chorizo and shrimps because he’s not into serious amount of rosemary on the other one, but I love the one with potatoes and white sausage! It’s also very filling. Chorizo, shrimps and rucola version seems a bit lighter, but toppings are still generous. Is one tarte flambee enough if you’re really hungry? Depends – so all men beware \ud83d\ude09 Get an extra salad or soup if you come in the lunchtime! You can also have dessert, i.e. tarte flambee with creme fraiche, apples, cinnamon and brown sugar! \ud83d\ude42 Sounds delicious to me!<\/p>\n

PS. Also, Flambeeria<\/strong> provides free carafes of water when you order food! It’s still quite uncommon in Warsaw. Cool that they thought about it!<\/p>\n
