Finding a hotel suitable both for the children and the parents is not an easy job. Especially if you’re thinking about a bit of luxury, cosy rooms and delicious food. I know it, went through it and heard my friends’ stories. We usually skip the children-friendly part since Maks is already an experienced traveller and he does not need that much (a pool will do! :)), and we usually don’t spent that much time in a hotel since we move, drive around and try to see as many things and places as we can. But sometimes, we try to find a children-friendly hotel and take our kid to a children’s paradise – with a swimming pool, a playground, slides and all the attractions that make the little one squeak with delight. And that’s where the ordeal begins.. If you manage to find some child-oriented facilities, the hotel turns out to be a disaster. Or you find an immaculate hotel with no attractions for kids or even worse – an \u201eadults only<\/em>\u201d place. It’s the same everywhere – in Mallorca, Turkey or Cyprus. Finding a place that answers all the expectations is not easy…<\/p>\n

If I were to award children-friendly hotels with a medal Hotel SPA dr Irena Eris in Krynica Zdr\u00f3j<\/strong><\/a> would surely get one! I have the feeling that it’s one of the most pro-child places we have visited in the last few years! A perfect place. A place that provides attractions for your child, gives you fantastic family time but also allows you to catch a breath. I thought about the disadvantages for quite a while but couldn’t find any… It’s just how it should be. It’s a place that, contrary to many others, does not treat your child as an obstacle, a second-class guest but as a VIP. The child is the one you care about, the one you provide attractions for, give a dedicated menu and hot cocoa or fruit tea for breakfast.<\/p>\n

You notice the openness in the very beginning.<\/strong>. Kids get a welcome gift – a fluffy sheep holding a towel in its paws, that looks like it’s going swimming or to SPA. A little hooded nightgown along with tiny hotel slippers with teddy bears on it are waiting in the room. A miniature of what the adults get. And we all know how kids like to look like their moms and dads. Getting an extra kid’s bed with linen is no problem at all and the service makes it every day with Maks plush toys arrangement included.<\/p>\n

The pool section features not only a large pool for adults (maximum depth 1.6 m) but also a small pool for kids, 35 cm deep,<\/strong> that Maks loved. There are some swimming boards, water wings, a ball and a water umbrella. The kids’ pool is located so that I can swim in adult’s pool and still keep an eye on Maks playing with other kids. I can lie on the side and read a newspaper with no fear that Maks will drown in 35 cm deep water. There are swimming lessons available too, but we didn’t have enough time to check it out.<\/p>\n

When the little one gets tired of the swimming pool, there’s an outdoor playground<\/strong> located in a beautiful mountainous surrounding with a large meadow on which the little one can run and play. An in the evening deers come visit (like yesterday!), so keep your eyes open.<\/p>\n

When it rains (or if you’re visiting Krynica Zdr\u00f3j during winter), there’s a playroom<\/strong> available with toys, toy cars, puzzles, board games and some video games for the older kids. Nothing special? Tell me how many hotels have a playroom? Maybe some do, but this one has a babysitter from 10 am to 6 pm who plays with children, gives them stickers, draws with them and looks after them. Some of you may protest. Going for vacation with your child and giving it to the babysitter?! An outrage! You can say so and snarl at your kid in the evening so it goes to sleep because you want to rest. You can be sick of it and keep it inside. You can also provide yourself with an hour of quiet time at the swimming pool, sauna, on the folding bed, with your husband or a book while your little one is having fun with other children, pastes car stickers and even… learns English. Because they have English lessons for kids too. Once or twice a day depending on the day. While we were there, the lessons started at 10 am and 5 pm and Maks attended it once, even though he was younger than most of the “students”! I encouraged him to go more since he beautifully called a crayon yellow<\/em> and asked for more words, but playing turned out to be more tempting :).<\/p>\n

Last but not least, especially for parents: THE FOOD!<\/strong>. I don’t know too many children that are happy to eat anything that lands on their plates. When we’re eating in a restaurant at the hotel we usually hear things like: “No, there will be nothing green in it”, “Just noodles, no sauce or butter”, “If you don’t eat your soup, there will be no swimming pool”. Is it good or not – I’m not going to discuss it here since everybody who has a small and thin child that does not want to eat or is a poor eater in general knows that sometimes you just have to say things like these. Food on holidays with children is often a stressful subject – will they have something he likes? What will he eat there? What if I buy him something he does not like?<\/p>\n

The kids’ menu is usually very short and includes 2-3 standards. In Krynica there’s a separate menu for children, a little red book with noodles, dumplings, fish (salmon!), pork chops, meatballs (in tomato or dill sauce), pancakes, soups (obviously a tomato one!) and desserts in it. I guess that all poor eaters will find something suitable… and if you add breakfast with things like waffles (forget about the kids, I loved them too!!!), you can be sure about the food situation. It was the first place where at the breakfast the waiter asked us not only whether we want tea or coffee but also whether the child wants cocoa or fruit tea. Give them a round of applause!<\/p>\n

Monday is our last day at Hotel SPA dr Irena Eris w Krynicy.<\/strong> Maks will wake up at 8 am, look through a great window with a view at a gondola going up the Jaworzyna Krynicka mountain and see if it already works. If it’s sunny, I will open the balcony door and he will run on the grass looking out for “bees collecting nectar”. Then, he will go to eat his breakfast, choose wieners and a pancake with chocolate saying that he’s “hungry like an old gorilla”… and wash it down with some apple juice. At 10 am he will run downstairs to attend the English lesson since he’s been asking how is bed, computer and bike in English for the whole evening. Or maybe the playroom will win again? Then I’ll go swimming or work for a while (?). I hope it will be a swimming pool! At 11 am we’ll get Maks from his English lesson and go swimming together. He will swim in water wings or make sea races with his dinosaurs. He’ll surely jump into a Jacuzzi – right after he turns off the bubbles that he does not like. He’ll have meatballs with rice for lunch, then he’ll have some fun on the playground and we’ll go for a trip.. The only problem will be – will we get back before the pool closes. A family paradise? There you go!<\/p>\n

PS. I’ll tell you one more thing. When we got to Krynica from Warsaw after a 6 hours trip (traffic, crowded roads, Friday afternoon, you know how it is), after many curves and \u0141ukasz’ dynamic style of driving (dynamic is a kind of an euphemism :)), Maks couldn’t take it any longer and threw up in the lobby… On the floor, right next to the reception desk, in the corridor and in the bathroom. The reaction of the staff, the smiles on their faces and the understanding is yet another advantage that is not something common in such situation. Give them another round of applause!<\/p>\n

PS2. We visited Krynica Zdr\u00f3j after we got invited by Hotel SPA dr Irena Eris<\/strong> but I would happily return with no invitations since there’s not that many places that are so children-friendly. And I already know that I will recommend this place to my friends in need of a children-friendly hotel<\/em>. I recommend it to you to \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
