I could write many pages about Spain, talk about it for hours, tell stories and reminiscent\u2026 Spain means various memories, various flavours, various places. Spain means Erasmus, 1 euro sangria<\/i>, kalimotxo<\/i>\u00a0(for those who have never tried it: red wine + coca cola), tortilla de patatas<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0churros con chocolate<\/i>\u00a0on a Sunday morning in the old town of San Sebastian. Spain means the best grilled octopus in a small Galician village Combarro, a delicious pulpo a la gallega<\/i>\u00a0in Barcelona and our little breakfasts served on a terrace in the January sun of the Canary Islands\u2026 Many images, smells, flavours, sounds. I don\u2019t remember about them on a day to day basis, but places like La Iberica<\/b><\/a>\u00a0<\/b>successfully restore my memory and make me wait impatiently for the next stroll on the streets of a Spanish town, looking for a local sangria <\/i>and baguette with\u00a0jamon serrano…<\/i><\/p>\n

let’s start with a classic<\/p><\/div>\n

La Iberica is located in an ordinary villa on ul. P\u0142owiecka 35 (on the corner with ul. Nowowi\u015bniowa). As it\u2019s quite a journey from Ochota the best thing is to go there on a weekend. It makes you quickly forget about the long journey. Upon entering you can see a huge jamon serrano<\/i>\u00a0like in Madrid, Barcelona or Bilbao, and you can hear the Spanish-speaking staff\u2026<\/p>\n

jamon speaks for itself<\/p><\/div>\n

Fresh orange juice, olives para picar\u00ad \u2013 <\/i>in a word, something to bite on, and San Miguel is a must. We are waiting for starters!<\/p>\n

\"pulpo<\/a>

Spain on a plate!<\/p><\/div>\n

We have\u00a0pimientos de padron<\/i>\u00a0\u2013 small green peppers grilled with sea salt, a great taste of Spain, impossible to duplicate at home, pulpo a la gallega<\/i>\u00a0(octopus with potatoes, spiced with hot pepper), small sandwiches with jamon serrano<\/i>\u00a0and with\u00a0queso manchego<\/i>\u00a0(this is something I also adore, a perfect accompaniment to wine during a girls night) and tortilla de patatas<\/i>. We have tortilla most frequently because, differently to pimientos de padron<\/i>\u00a0or pulpo a la gallega<\/i>\u00a0you can make it yourself, it \u201ccleans\u201d the fridge from leftovers and it tastes delicious! The other delicacies are hard to find in Warsaw.<\/p>\n

\"paella,<\/a>

paella is a must have<\/p><\/div>\n

Seafood paella tastes wonderfully. A portion for three is perfectly filling; you can feed a little one (with shrimps and rice \u2013 our little one loves it) and even take some home, in order to bring a taste of Spain to work the next day.<\/p>\n

We chose tarta de queso<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0queso fresco con membrillo <\/i>for desert.<\/i>\u00a0Despite all my love for Spain, I think that their deserts don\u2019t measure up France or Italy.<\/p>\n

However, in\u00a0La Iberica<\/b>\u00a0the deserts had surprised us: they were delicious!<\/p>\n

queso fresco con membrillo \u2014 fresh cheese with quince jelly and strawberry mousse<\/p><\/div>\n

homemade cheesecake<\/p><\/div>\n

Both deserts were delicious, I advise you to try queso fresco<\/i>\u00a0with quince jelly because it is definitely a more original flavour than a cheesecake and an apple-pie that we\u2019ve all been familiar with since childhood \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

La Iberica<\/b>\u00a0is an especially good option for a Sunday dinner, also with kids, although they don\u2019t offer any special facilities for children. However, the place is small, intimate and cosy so children can run around freely without disturbing anyone and they are welcomed with a smile\u2026<\/p>\n

And if you fall in love with the Spanish cuisine in La Iberica<\/b>, the next step is\u2026 Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Bilbao\u2026 and many other interesting places in Spain\u2026<\/p>\n

And this is how we ate in Barcelona\u2026 almost 3 years ago, so it\u2019s time to repeat it\u2026 in Madrid, soon! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
