To be honest, I haven’t had such a relaxing and lovely weekend in a looong time! Even though every day I had to spend some time in front of my computer, fiddling with Power Point, it was gorgeous nonetheless! We conquered snowdrifts, storms and snows on a late Friday afternoon and got to the secluded Hotel SPA dr Irena Eris Wzgórza Dylewskie, near Ostróda.

Why was this weekend so different from the others? Because during our journeys we usually spend a lot of time sightseeing, walking, reading guidebooks, searching for recommendations, packing Maks in a buggy, and walking for 8 hours straight. We do love it – such a weekend makes us very happy, but it also exhausts us. And we have to go back to work on a Monday! A weekend in Warsaw can also be exhausting – on the one hand, there are domestic obligations (cleaning, cooking, washing dishes – and I still don’t have a dishwasher!!! :)), on the other, there are family obligations and social obligations… and especially this last type of duties can exhaust us on a Saturday night for the next couple of days!

This weekend is about perfect rest. Walking, swimming in a pool, sauna, jacuzzi, more walking, sledge, Maks is happy in a kids’ corner with toys, and his parents are unhurriedly having breakfast, lunch and dinner. And every things is delicious and perfectly though-through! 🙂

I’ll walk you through the Hotel SPA dr Irena Eris Wzgórza Dylewskie some other time – I’ll invite you to the rooms, to a pool deck chair and a walk around the place, but today I’m going to tempt your taste buds with marvellous starters, main courses and deserts. I have to warn you: this post may be dangerous if you’re hungry 🙂

Not every hotel restaurant gives you culinary sensations, sometimes the food is just too… “hotely”. Without vision, not very tasty, there’s a bit of everything on the menu, but nothing special. Wzgórza Dylewskie are an exception. They offer two restaurants: Romantyczna (Romantic) and Oranżeria (Orangery).

Romantyczna opens only for dinners, it’s small, cozy and… romantic. The menu is based on local and fresh, seasonal products – sounds like bullshit that you recently get everywhere you go, but Romantyczna has been recommended by Slow Food Polska since 2006. And in this time this kind of approach was unusual. Today they have an original menu, but also classical positions available in all “original” restaurants, such as european plaice and jerusalem artichoke. We would have definitely visited Romantyczna, but they don’t let children under 12 in, out of concern for other guests. So, we only have to wait another 10 years, or visit dr Irena without Maks…

This time we had to settle with Oranżeria… but it turned out to be so marvellous, that we’ve thought of nothing else. Especially that it’s a lovely place, romantic, and there’s also an open children’s area on weekends, with little tables, wooden tracks, a house to play in. The hotel is in general the most children-friendly place in Poland I’ve ever seen! I’ll tell you about it soon! 🙂

And in the meantime, take a sit and wait for something delicious…
