A free Sunday. No family lunches, no planned walks or visits, no shopping to be done and no matches to be watched. Just free time that can be spend on a trip. Where to? Two weeks ago we decided to spontaneously go to Kazimierz for a dinner and a walk.

We got into the car after breakfast and arrived in Kazimierz 1.5-2 hours later. It’s a town, where you’ll find plenty of delicacies and walking terrains.

There’s also a wonderful little hotel but unfortunately this time we didn’t have time to stay in Kazimierz overnight. If you ever manage to do so, stay at Pensjonat Vincent located on ul. Krakowska, one of the best streets to walk by especially with a pram ;). The place itself is very intriguing with each room being decorated in a different way and painted with tint paint perfect for relaxation. It’s not cheap but definitely worth the price.

Vincent

Food is yet another advantage of Vicent’s (obviously!!) :).  Kuchnia i Wino restaurant that operates in the place made me fall in love with their home-made granola. I even started to do my own at home but that’s another story. Granola at Vincent’s is crunchy, deliciously sweet and served with season fruits. You can add yoghurt, milk or even coconut milk.

idealny początek dnia

An ideal start of the day

We used to start our days at Vincent’s that way. Breakfast in Kazimierz and then off we go to work in Warsaw. There’s no better way to start the week. 🙂

This time we came to Kazimierz for dinner. You have to wait a while because Kuchnia i Wino is a renowned slow food, but believe me, it’s worth waiting. In the meantime, you get some free nibbles. Most of the time we order a freshly squeezed juice, usually made from apples, as these are less popular than orange of grapefruit juices. This time we also ordered a salad with grilled vegetables and goat’s cheese (that’s me!), a steak tartare (Łukasz) and a wholemeal apple pie (you know who ;)). I also tried zrazy (a Polish specialty for meat eaters) with mushroom potato dumplings but those weren’t that good so I’ll just skip it. The rest was marvellous. Take a look at these pictures:

A Sunday lunch must end with a dessert. This time I went traditional and tried a wholemeal apple pie with delicious blueberry sauce and vanilla ice-cream. It was so good it blew me away.

Kwadrans is another place worth visiting in Kazimierz.

I used to be a fanatic of their veal and chanterelle dumplings and potato pancakes with salmon and… maple syrup. Weird and surprising combination but surely worth recommending. We tried it at home on numerous occasions and it always makes potato pancakes with salmon a whole new dish :).

What can you do in Kazimierz apart from eating? You can take a walk. Try the promenade on the Vistula river bank, picturesque tiny alleys, small main square or a gorge if you prefer a nature-friendly experience. There are castle ruins with a tower to be visited. You can also go on a boat trip to Janowiec — there’s a beautiful castle and the town itself is really calm and relaxing.

If you’re looking for a place to go out in the evening, visit Manufaktura Czekolady located opposite Vincent’s. THERE’S NO OTHER PLACE that serves such delicious hot chocolate and iced chocolate (especially white) :). Go there, try it and let us know :). If you find better chocolate I promise to give you a full refund (of the chocolate, not your trip to Kazimierz :)) as Castorama or other Leroy Merlin do when you find their products cheaper somewhere else. Have a good and tasty weekend!
