We’re going to Tricity convinced that it will be delicious! We have a list of our favorite places that we always come back to (HERE), but this time we feel like testing new things, experimenting and looking for what’s enchanting, new and for what we could recommend to anybody going to Tricity.

 

We keep our eyes and ears open to any place with good food, so we put a few of them on our list before leaving. The question that we asked you on Facebook just made us feel sure about some of the choices. We know we have to go to Krew i Woda in Gdynia first. Perfect, because it’s not far from our Mercure Gdynia hotel. We stay in that hotel during See Bloggers. You will find Krew i Woda at Abrahama Street 41 (the corner of Abrahama and Armii Krajowej Street), two steps away from Świętojańska Street, Gdynia’s main walkway.

Nice, warm, casual interior makes you wanna go in, especially since the rain has started pouring down. We sit down on high chairs by the window and start reading the menu. All we see is… a problem. Why? Because we want to eat almost EVERYTHING! There are a lot of interesting offers amongst appetizers, salads, soups, fish and meat dishes. If you want a SOUP, most of them will be fish-based: lobster soup, a’la Bouillabaisse, Thai with shrimps, Kashubian with cream. There are mules prepared in a few ways – as well as in a more unique version, like Italian mules with gorgonzola cheese or Thai with coconut milk, red curry pâté, cilantro, lemon grass. When it comes to FISH and SEAFOOD, we want almost everything – codfish, halibut, squit and shrimp risotto, seafood curry, tagliatelle pasta in lobster sauce. I’ll tell you now: I think we tasted 7 things because we ate both lunch and dinner in Krew i Woda 🙂 Now you know it must be amazing!!!! Now let’s get to the details!!!

 

We test three soups… Lobster soup (34 zlotys – shrimps, squids, salmon, cream, dill, brandy), fish soup a’la Bouillabaisse (22 zlotys – codfish, salmon, squids, aioli) and Thai soup with shrimps (19 zlotys – coconut milk, lemon grass, lime, fresh cilantro). All three of them are absolutely GENIOUS!!! Aromatic, tasty, with a huge amount of fish and seafood. The fish is delicate, squids are soft and lithe. The taste is so great and polished up that every spoon is an enchantment and you get more disappointed the closer you get to the finish line. What’s funny, were found Thai soup most surprising – we usually don’t order anything “Thai” that is not cooked in a typical, Thai restaurant. But this time, the soup in Gdynia’s center smelled like Thailand and its taste is addictive – I would it it again!

When it comes to the main dishes, Łukasz chooses the polar cod Supreme served with risotto with chorizo, spinach and buerre-blanc sauce (39 zlotys). We’ve seen such mixture (codfish, spinach, chorizo, butter) before, but here everything is perfect – delicious, creamy risotto with a clear taste of chorizo and perfectly made fish. We want such fish at the Polish sea! We were afraid that strong chorizo taste would ruin the whole dish, but it turned out it’s harmonious and beautifully balanced.

 

I go for a pretty unique offer – Greenlandic halibut / kopytka with smoked sesame / coconut sauce with lemon grass / peanuts / cilantro (52 zlotys). Rarely do I choose fish in such version, but here it’s a perfect choice. Again – great fish, polished up tastes and delicate kopytka. Oh my, this is so good!!!

In the evening we want to go check out another place, but Łukasz takes us back to Krew i Woda. This is what he says whenever he talks about places he loves: “I could go there again!”. I don’t rebel – what’s more, we go there with our befriended bloggers. It’s almost 10 PM and there are no mules that we wanted to try anymore, but we fall in love with Thai soup with shrimps and risotto with squids and shrimps (36 zlotys) that Ania from Czosnek w Pomidorach ordered for herself. I love it too, even though I’ve never liked risotto! We don’t like tagliatelle in lobster sauce (brown trout / shrimps / squids / basil / parmezan – 59 zlotys) that much though, and it’s the only dish served in Krew i Woda over which we don’t go into ecstasy. Compared to other, very clear, deep tastes, tagliatelle is just bland and we are not the only ones thinking that. Also, parmezan doesn’t go well with fish and seafood. It would give every Italian a heart attack. We also think there was too much basil. Tagliatelle… not really, but everything else – OH YES!!!:)

 

We didn’t taste anything with meat – whenever we are at the sea, we eat tooooooons of fish, but everything with meat sounds interesting too: mignone fillet / mashed potatoes with truffle pâté / coffee butter / beetroot roasted in sea salt / demi glace, beef cheek in goose fat / bacon / Silesian dumplings / spinach / demi glace and Surf’n Turf, with is mignone fillet with shrimps, squids, fried potatoes and buerre blanc sauce.

 

Oh, there is so much to choose from in Krew i Woda! 200% ecstasy!!! We definitely want to go back there!!! We recommend it to you in 200%!!! Another proof that with every month, Gdynia becomes a bigger culinary paradise!!!
