There’s no other place in Poland or anywhere else in the world where I have tested so many accommodation possibilities than in Zakopane! I can no longer count all the places I stayed in when I was 4, 10, 12, 15, 20, 24, 28 or 30. Some of them I will remember forever, while I won’t be able to locate others. I’ve been to Zakopane ‘thousands’ of times. Once with my mother, aunt, grandma and cousin – I still think about that stay when I walk by the old, neglected villa on ul. Piłsudskiego leading to the ski jump today. With my dad and grandpa – staying in quite a luxurious (back then) hotel on Antałówka. On numerous occasions with mom for Easter, sometimes for Christmas. With my friend for a camp. With my class for green school. With my ex skiing… And finally with Łukasz. Do you know that after we met in Wrocław we went for the first date to Zakopane??? 🙂 Both me and my mom and Łukasz with his parents came to Zako for Easter..
Me and Łukasz visit Zakopane at least 2-3 times a year Sometimes with friends, sometimes alone. We already have out favourite places to stay but recently Villa 11 Folk & Design made us completely rethink our ranking and instantly became a no.1! We already found them in May when we were looking for shepherd’s huts that are worth visiting in Zakopane. Back then they were getting ready to open for business and the pictures on their Facebook profile were really encouraging. As soon as they invited us for August, we knew we have to go there and check if it’s actually so beautiful there! Now we know we have to send you there too!
We reached Villa late in the evening on Friday, after a long trip and a dinner at Góralska Tradycja. And we were gone in seconds… The place impresses you as soon as you enter: plenty of bright wood, well-thought-of details, highland decorations presented in a modern way. A place where you get the feeling that somebody gave it a lot of thought and nothing is accidental: old skis on the walls, pieces of wood decorating the walls and being part of the reception, old posters reminding us of the ski past of Zakopane.
After first wows caused by the clever interior design, we went to see the room. Plenty of wood again, some whites and some greys and again, highland style at its best. Charming, classy and high-level. Style I’d be happy to decorate my bedroom in. Not in Zakopane or Podhale. The rooms are simple, yet well-thought-of. There’s a spacious wardrobe suitable for anyone who’s staying longer which we often missed in hotel rooms. There’s also a small fridge which I can use if I buy fruits or a yoghurt for Maks. Another piece of equipment that’s often missing in guesthouses. I often had to put yoghurts and milk outside the window which usually ended with the temperature being too high or too low. Fortunately, they thought about that too in Villa! No problems with an extra child’s bed either. Tested that too 🙂
There’s 13 rooms in Villa 11. A nice and intimate place without crowds. A bit away from the most crowded streets of Zakopane but close enough to quickly go and have lunch or a late dinner. Close enough to go for a walk somewhere near Jaszczurówka or the valleys, quite close to Nosal or Kasprowy Wierch if you’re coming in the winter and want to go skiing. The only thing that’s missing is some extra facilities around the place. There’s a lawn and a small parking lot but I would add something for the kids… a swing, a sandbox or something else a family with a little one will appreciate. 🙂 Fortunately Maks quickly noticed that there’s a kids’ corner inside, downstairs, right next to the breakfast hall. A modest one so far, but Maks still loved plush vegetables, buns, fish and muffins which he could fed to his ‘pussycat’ 🙂 They said that the kids’ corner will be expanded and fitted with more toys in the future. Well, Villa only opened in July.
We eat the breakfast in a small hall downstairs. No photos here since we woke up late and didn’t think about the camera and the pictures 🙂 Believe us, there’s plenty to choose from. A smorgasbord with some extra scrambled eggs, wieners, omelette and toasts. Scrambled eggs with ham were delicious! I loved Villa on Saturday when they served a plate with hot oscypek and cranberry sauce for every table – that’s what Zakopane tastes like!
Next to the breakfast hall and the kids’ corner, you will also find a sauna and a chill out zone. Once again beautifully dsigned! Highland yet modern and classy!
Pięknie, prawda? 🙂 Takich miejsc stale szukamy i stale nas zachwycają! I cały czas mamy wrażenie, że ciągle jest ich dość mało.. A jeśli tutaj dodamy jeszcze poranki z widokiem na góry, to mamy miejsce idealne na relaks na Podhalu! 🙂
Beautiful, isn’t it? 🙂 We keep looking for such places and they still amaze us! But we still get the feeling that there’s not enough of them.. And here you also get mornings with a view of the mountains – a perfect place to relax in Podhale
We will be back for sure! 🙂 Seems to me that in winter it will be even more magical!!!
PS. How about the prices?? Here you are: in season it’s PLN 260-290 for a double room including breakfast. You chooses from a standard one with abalcony and a mountain view or economy which lacks a balcony and is a bit smaller. All the details can be found on their website HERE.
PS2. Pictures without the ‘tasteaway’ watermark come from Villa 11 FB profile.
